WHOLESALE
DISTRIBUTION
- The
Welsh Books Councils Distribution Centre provides
a wholesale distribution service for the book trade
in Wales. Its purpose-built Centre houses an extensive
stock of Welsh-language books and Welsh books in English.
- Upwards
of 1,300 new Welsh-language and English-language titles
of interest to Wales are published every year. The
Distribution Centre aims to keep in stock every Welsh-interest
title possible, where publishers are able to offer
wholesale terms. Publishers with suitable titles to
offer may contact the Manager, Dafydd Charles Jones
(contact details below).
- Information
about every title held in stock at the Distribution
Centre can be found on the Council's information and
ordering site, www.gwales.com.
- Over
800 outlets have accounts at the Distribution Centre.
A next-day delivery service is provided if orders
are received before 12 noon. There is a delivery charge
on orders to the value of less than £66.66 net.

- The
Distribution Centre distributes books on behalf of

- 776,032
items were sold through the Welsh Books Councils
Distribution Centre in 2007/08, amounting to £5.5
million (gross). This represents an increase of 13.38%
on the previous year.
Sales through the Councils Distribution Centre
have increased steadily since 1990 and the Centre
is meeting its annual targets. Sales increased by
25.35% over the last two years.

Titles are distributed to over 800 outlets on behalf
of 350 publishers.
- The
Distribution Centre is self-supporting and receives
no subsidy from public funds.
